HC Deb 04 March 1942 vol 378 c643
48. Major Sir Jocelyn Lucas

asked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware that the proportion of reconditioned rubber used in the manufacture of tyres in this country and the United States of America is in the region of 10 per cent. and 40 per cent., respectively; and what steps are being taken to improve the position in view of the urgent need for rubber economy?

The Minister of Supply (Sir Andrew Duncan)

The proportion of reconditioned rubber used in tyres has been greater in the United States than in this country, for reasons given in the Debate on 3rd February. The proportion in this country is now being substantially increased.
