asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works and Planning, why no compensation was paid to Mr. F. H. Blackmoor when the Florence Hotel, Blackpool, was taken over by the Ministry of Works and Planning, on 7th September, 1939; and why, when the furniture which had been removed was subsequently burnt, Was no compensation paid?

Settlement of all claims for compensation was made by agreement with the owner, Mrs. Blackmoor, in August, 1940, and regular payments have been made since that date. The Ministry are under no liability in respect of the furniture which was stored by the owner in a repository.
