HC Deb 02 July 1942 vol 381 cc486-7
19. Mr. Lindsay

asked the President of the Board of Education whether he can give any further information about the body, whose existence he recently announced, which is considering the question of vocational training in relation to employment?

Mr. Butler

With the agreement of the Joint Consultative Committee appointed by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Labour and National Service, arrangements are being made for discussions on this matter between representatives of the Departments concerned and representatives, both employers and employees, of individual industries. The reference in my speech was to the preliminary meeting concerned to put these discussions in motion.

Mr. Lindsay

Is this a permanent Committee?

Mr. Butter

It will be permanent until it has achieved something useful, in which case its work will pass into posterity.

Mr. Lindsay

Is there to be a report?

Mr. Butler

No, Sir.
