HC Deb 24 February 1942 vol 378 c9
27. Mr. Bellenger

asked the Secretary of State for War how many officers have been appointed to the pigeon service; how many of these have had previous experience of pigeons; and how many were commissioned direct without service in the ranks?

Mr. Sandys

It would not be in the public interest to disclose the size of the Army Pigeon Service. All except one of the officers appointed have had experience of pigeons before being commissioned, and about half of them had previous service in the ranks.
