HC Deb 23 October 1941 vol 374 cc1905-6
55. Mr. Viant

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he is aware that the food office in the borough of Willesden is now situated in the High Road, Kilburn, about 10 yards off the boundary of Hampstead, and, that residents of Neasden and Stone-bridge, having to visit the office, can do so only by a circuitous route by train or omnibus involving a fare of 6d. or 8d. each way; and will he take the appropriate steps to open an office in a more central position?

Major Lloyd George

Part of the Willesden food office is temporarily evacuated to its present premises as the result of damage which occurred recently in the permanent premises when a boiler burst in the basement causing considerable damage. The office for inquiries from members of the public has not been affected and is still located in the library at Willesden.
