§ 35. Mr. G. Macdonaldasked the Minister of Health whether he has considered a resolution, a copy of which has been sent to him, passed by the Mineworkers' Federation of Great Britain, asking that medical benefit similar to that provided under the National Health Insurance Act, should be provided for all dependants of 448 the men in the Armed Forces who were themselves insured persons, and that such benefit should be administered through existing machinery of the National Health Insurance Committee and should be on a non-contributory basis; and with what result?
§ Mr. E. BrownYes, Sir. This question has been under consideration from time to time by my predecessors and myself, and I think I cannot do better than refer my hon. Friend to the very full Answer which was given by my right hon. and gallant Friend the Member for North Midlothian (Colonel Colville) on 23rd April, 1940, when he was Secretary of State for Scotland. I am sending a copy of this answer to my hon. Friend.
§ Mr. MacdonaldWill there be any hope of my getting an Answer if I put down a Question in a few days?
§ Mr. BrownPerhaps my hon. Friend will look at the full Answer to which I have referred, and if he wants further information put down another Question or come and see me, when I shall be glad to go into the matter with him.
