HC Deb 08 October 1940 vol 365 cc248-9
53. Mr. A. Edwards

asked the Prime Minister whether he will instruct the various Departments concerned, whose daily reports are of vital concern to the community, to deliver these reports to the British Broadcasting Corporation in good time for the 8 o'clock news bulletin instead of a short time later as announced by the British Broadcasting Corporation recently; and whether he is aware after strenuous and restless nights the community expects to know the results of the night's work by the Fighting Services before starting out on their day's work?

The Prime Minister

I assume that the hon. Member has in mind the air-raid bulletins issued each morning by the Air Ministry and Ministry of Home Security acting in conjunction. As the hon. Member will appreciate, there are sometimes difficulties in giving a full picture at an early hour, and these difficulties may increase as nights lengthen, but endeavours will be made to enable a bulletin to be broadcast at 8 o'clock each morning.
