§ 51. Mr. Caryasked the Prime Minister whether he will indicate to the House what steps he proposes to take to counter effectively the indiscriminate bombing of the civilian population of Great Britain?
§ The Prime MinisterWe are taking what we deem to be the best possible steps, both in defence and in counterattack, but I see some disadvantages In describing our plans and methods in detail. Regular reports are published of the activities of the Royal Air Force, both in this country and overseas.
§ Mr. CaryIs my right hon. Friend aware that in 1918 we formed an independent bomber command for the express purpose of bombing Berlin? May I ask that a similar command be provided for conducting a close offensive against civilian populations, particularly in Berlin and Cologne?
§ The Prime MinisterI think that is a remarkable question to be put as a supplementary.
