HC Deb 19 November 1940 vol 365 cc1804-5
15. Miss Ward

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will consider an alteration in the regulations governing the non-payment of separation allowances to wives not living with their husbands at the time of enlistment, and particularly in relation to allowances for children?

Mr. Eden

The position of separated wives in relation to the payment of family allowances was exhaustively considered before the existing arrangements were approved, and I am not aware of any particular reason for alteration of these arrangements. If the hon. Lady will inform me of any specific suggestion which she has in mind, I shall be glad to consider it.
