§ 13. Mr. Glenvil Hallasked the Secretary of State for War why troops are sleeping on mud floors in tin huts near a place to which his attention has been drawn when ample billeting accommodation exists nearby?
§ Mr. EdenI am informed that the troops to which my hon. Friend refers were in huts for about ten days. These men have been moved elsewhere, and the troops now stationed in the place are in billets.
§ Mr. HallIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that these men were originally in a stable at a mansion, and can he give any reason why they were turned out except that the lady of the house did not like having them there?
§ Mr. EdenI do not know anything about that. My impression was that they were billeted in the house. If my hon. Friend knows more about it, I shall be glad if he will give me particulars.
