asked the Minister of Transport in what cities and towns in Scotland notices are erected at omnibus and tramway stopping places instructing the formation of queues; and whether he will take steps to see that this practice is extended?

Mr. Bernays

The information for which the hon. and learned Member asks is not available, and owing to the time and labour involved I should not feel justified in present circumstances in taking the steps necessary to obtain it. If the hon. and learned Member considers that such notices are needed at any particular place and will let me know, I will look into the matter, but statutory powers would be necessary for their enforcement?

Mr. Gibson

Does the hon. Gentleman realise that where passenger traffic has increased owing to the war emergency some regulation is necessary, and will he look at the matter from that point of view?

Will the hon. Gentleman bear in mind that the adequate service provided by the Socialist administration in Glasgow makes queues unnecessary?
