HC Deb 13 March 1940 vol 358 c1179
36. Sir Harold Webbe

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has now been able to give consideration to the possibility of reducing still further the period during which cheap-day tickets are not available for the return journey?

Mr. Bernays

Yes, Sir. Since the reintroduction of summer-time the positionhas been reviewed, and I am glad to say that it has been found possible to remove the restriction upon the hours during which cheap-day tickets to London are available for return journeys. As from Monday, 18th March, until further notice these cheap-day tickets will be available for return by any train on the day of issue.
