HC Deb 26 October 1939 vol 352 cc1540-1
21. Mr. Denville

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether he will provide sufficient school accommodation for the benefit of the larger moiety of evacuee children who have returned to their homes?

26. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether he is aware of the increasing number of children in London and extra Metropolitan areas who are gathering daily in church halls and similar buildings or are visiting cinemas; and as this is more dangerous than their presence in local schools, and in view of the serious loss of continuous and efficient education, he will speed up arrangements for the partial opening of the schools?

Mr. Lindsay

The question of the education of children in evacuation areas is dealt with in the Board's Circular 1479, of which I am sending the hon. Members copies. I may add that a decision will be taken shortly on the question of providing more formal education than is suggested in that Circular.
