HC Deb 03 October 1939 vol 351 c1825
88. Commander Locker-Lampson

asked the hon. Member for Dulwich as Chairman of the Kitchen Committee, whether he can now say what steps have been taken to improve the conditions of employment of the waiters of this House?

Mr. Bracewell Smith

The staff quarters for the waiters have been substantially improved, and the structural alterations are almost completed.

Lieut.-Colonel Sir A. Lambert Ward

Is my hon. Friend aware that conditions of employment to-day in the Refreshment Department, could be greatly improved if hon. Members would dine here more frequently?
