HC Deb 03 October 1939 vol 351 cc1808-9
46. Mr. Horabin

asked the Prime Minister whether he is in a position to make a further statement with regard to the proposed Parliamentary Committee on Colonial Affairs?

47. Mr. Thornton-Kemsley

asked the Prime Minister whether he has any announcement to make concerning the establishment of a Parliamentary Standing Committee for the consideration of Colonial affairs?

The Prime Minister (Mr. Chamberlain)

Since my answer to questions on this subject on 2nd August other matters have intervened and engaged the most urgent attention of Ministers, as well as of the Opposition parties. In the circumstances there has not yet been an opportunity for that careful examination of this subject, and that consultation on it with other parties in the House, which I foreshadowed in my answer on 2nd August.
