HC Deb 23 March 1939 vol 345 cc1460-1
82. Lieut.-Colonel Sir William Allen

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he has considered the document sent him by the Member for Armagh County alleging atrocities by British soldiers in Palestine; and whether he will take steps to make it clear that no such outrages have been committed, in view of the bad effect on the Army that such statements are allowed to be circulated with impunity?

Sir V. Warrender

The document bears no mark of origin, and the stories of atrocities which it contains are without foundation. As I said in answer to a question by my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Barkston Ash (Colonel Ropner) on 8th February last, a full statement rebutting such allegations has already been published.
