asked the Secretary of State for War what was the total number of commissions granted in 1938, showing separate figures for cadet entry, Territorial Army and Reserves, universities, ex-non-commissioned officer cadets, and warrant officers?

Commissions granted in the Regular Army during year ended 31st December, 1938.
From cadet colleges (excluding Armycadets) 404
From Territorial Army 42
From Supplementary Reserve of Officers, and Supplementary List, Regular Army Reserve of Officers 68
From universities 110
Army cadets (that is, ex-non-commissioned officer cadets) 29
Warrant officers (commissioned to quartermaster class) 176
