HC Deb 28 November 1938 vol 342 c32
59. Mr. R. C. Morrison

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware of the growing practice of sending printed matter from two separate firms in the same envelope by halfpenny postage; and whether he proposes to take steps to stop this practice?

Major Tryon

I am aware of this practice, but I do not think that it is extensively adopted. It does not necessarily infringe existing statutory regulations governing the Printed Papers post.

Mr. Morrison

Will the right hon. Gentleman modify his opinion if I bring to his notice particulars of a firm that is doing it to the extent of millions of circulars per month?

Major Tryon

I should be happy to consider anything that- the hon. Member is kind enough to lay before me, but looking at his question it appears to me that the hon. Member's suggestion favours big businesses.
