HC Deb 31 May 1938 vol 336 cc1810-1
25. Mr. Day

asked the Secretary of State for War to what extent it is proposed to put the Army Manoeuvres Act into operation this summer; and whether the Royal Air Force units will co-operate with the Army units in these exercises?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

The Manoeuvres Acts are being put into operation in three areas. Troops of the Aldershot Command will train in an area comprised of parts of Berkshire, Hampshire and Sussex; another area consisting of parts of Wiltshire and Hampshire will be used by troops of the Southern Command; and a part of Suffolk will be used by troops of the Eastern Command. The Royal Air Force will co-operate in exercises with these troops in the normal way.

Mr. Day

Have official invitations been sent to foreign attaches to witness these exercises?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

I presume so, but perhaps the hon. Gentleman will put that question down.
