HC Deb 12 May 1938 vol 335 c1716
77. Mr. Day

asked the Minister of Health whether the Government will consider making arrangements with local authorities for financially assisting necessitous British subjects who have been repatriated from countries where there is at present political upheaval, such as China and Austria, under similar conditions to those arrangements made with regard to repatriated British subjects from Spain?

Sir K. Wood

No, Sir. No need to consider special arrangements in respect of countries other than Spain has arisen.

Mr. Day

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that many of these people are in a state of destitution?

Sir K. Wood

Perhaps the hon. Member will send me any particulars he may have in his possession.
