HC Deb 21 June 1938 vol 337 cc895-6
68 and 69. Mr. Tinker

asked the right hon. Member for Rye, as representing the Forestry Commissioners (1) whether any requests have been made to him by colliery owners for a supply of young trees to plant on pit heaps;

(2) whether any requests have been made to him by local authorities for a supply of young trees to plant on disused colliery sites and pit-heaps?

Colonel Sir George Courthope (Forestry Commissioner)

No requests have been made to me by colliery owners for a supply of young trees to plant on pit heaps. It is not the practice of the Department to raise supplies of plants in excess of its own requirements, but plants can be obtained from the nursery trade.
