HC Deb 03 February 1938 vol 331 cc382-3
70. Mr. Drewe

asked the Minister of Health whether he will introduce legislation to amend the Poor Law Acts, 1930 and 1931, to enable public assistance committees to disregard the Prince of Wales grant of 10s. a week for ex-service men in receipt of this grant?

Sir K. Wood

I regret that I cannot see my way to introduce amending legislation in this matter. In so far, however, as the grants in question are made to meet a special need, it is the duty of the authority to take that need into account.
