§ Sir S. HoareYes, Sir. An increased scale of pay for civilian instructors in the prison service has been in force since 1st April last, the new scale being fixed after a consideration of the rates of pay paid to officers performing similar duties in other Departments. The normal hours of work are 48 a week, overtime is worked only in exceptional circumstances, and officers who work overtime are allowed time off in lieu.
