HC Deb 19 December 1938 vol 342 c2478
78. Sir Francis Acland

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he would consider the advisability of summoning a conference of representatives of all political parties to explore, either in private or in public, the possibilities of finding the principles of a national policy for agriculture?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

There is ample opportunity for discussing the principles of agricultural policy in this House, and I do not feel that any useful purpose would be served at the present time by such a conference as is suggested by the right hon. Gentleman.

Sir F. Acland

May I give my right hon. Friend notice that some of us will try to raise this matter, which is an important one, on Thursday?
