HC Deb 14 December 1938 vol 342 c1983
51. Mr. Anstruther-Gray

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he will consider the desirability of some regulation for the provision of parachutes for passengers on State-subsidised air lines?

Captain Balfour

The question of requiring parachutes to be provided for passengers on civil air transport aircraft is one that has been frequently considered, and the decision which has hitherto been arrived at is that it would not, on several grounds, be advisable to make such provision compulsory, at all events at the present time.
