§ 59. Mr. Lathanasked the Postmaster-General whether in the placing of insurance contracts for the Post Office, the conditions customarily attaching to Government contracts in relation to fair wages and conditions are stipulated?
§ Major TryonNo, Sir. The Post Office generally carries its own risks but in a few cases of leased buildings insurances are effected on the usual basis with one of the ordinary insurance companies.
§ Mr. LathanWill the Postmaster-General explain why we should discriminate between one form of contract and another in regard to the Fair Wages Clause?
§ Major TryonI am informed that the Fair Wages Clause is not appropriate for inclusion in a contract of indemnity.
