§ Following is the statement:
§ There is no separate Employment Exchange at Rochester, which is served by the Chatham Exchange. The following table shows the total numbers of unemployed persons, aged 14 and over, on the registers of the Chatham and Gravesend Employment Exchanges (including the Juvenile Employment Bureaux) at a date in April of each of the years 1938, 1937, 1936 and 1935.

§ The figures for 4th April, 1938, have been compiled in accordance with the revised procedure for counting the unemployed introduced in September, 1937, 283 under which persons subsequently found to be in employment at the date of the count are excluded from the figures.
