HC Deb 11 April 1938 vol 334 c762
38. Mr. H. G. Williams (for Commander Sir Archibald Southby)

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether, in view of the arduous duties performed by them, the Naval General Service Medal is to be awarded to the officers and men of the Royal Navy who have served in the patrols off the coast of Spain?

The Civil Lord of the Admiralty (Colonel Llewellin)

Although no decision has yet been taken by the Board of Admiralty on this matter my hon. Friend will bear in mind that many officers and men of the Royal Navy in different parts of the world have recently performed duties just as arduous as those to which he refers.
