HC Deb 11 April 1938 vol 334 cc762-3
54. Mr. T. Smith (for Mr. Thorne)

asked the Home Secretary what was the cause of the accident at the Penrhos aerodrome, near Pwllheli, Wales, where two men were injured on Tuesday last?

Sir S. Hoare

I have obtained a report from which it appears that a stake holding one of the guy ropes of a hand crane came out of the ground, and the crane lurched causing a man, who was on the ground hauling the lifting tackle, to stagger backwards and fall. His head struck another guy stake and he received a scalp wound from which I am glad to learn he is now recovering. The other man was bruised by the swinging load, not, I understand, severely.
