HC Deb 04 April 1938 vol 334 c21
37. Mr. Robert Gibson

(for Mr. Price) asked the Minister of Agriculture the value of the gross output of agricultural produce in this country and the imported feeding stuffs and fertilisers, respectively, in 1937, and the similar figures for 1914, after allowing for the difference in price levels ruling in those years?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

Making certain assumptions and reservations, and allowing for the difference in price level between the two years, the estimated value of the gross output in England and Wales in 1936–37 was £212,000,000, compared with £171,000,000 in 1913–14, imports of feeding stuffs were valued at £44,000,000 compared with £41,000,000, and imports of fertilisers at £2,225,000 against £2,750,000.
