HC Deb 21 October 1937 vol 327 cc13-4
65. Sir G. Mitcheson

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will ask the highway authorities in the Metropolitan area to furnish him with a list of streets in respect of which they are at present using their powers for the purpose of ensuring the setting back of the building line in respect of new buildings?

Mr. Burgin

The Metropolitan boroughs freely exercise their powers in respect of improvement lines in cases of rebuilding. A large number of streets is being dealt with in this way, and while I hope that my hon. Friend will not press me to furnish him with a complete list, I shall be happy to inform him of the position in respect of any streets in which he may be particularly interested.

Sir Joseph Nall

Is it the case that there has been no major improvement in London since Kingsway was constructed?
