HC Deb 08 March 1937 vol 321 cc792-3
53. Major Stourton

asked the Minister of Labour how many registered unemployed persons there were in the city of Salford in December, 1936; and whether he can give comparative figures for 1931?

Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead

The available statistics relate to the area of the Salford Employment Exchange. At 14th December, 1936, there were 8,531 unemployed persons aged 14 years and over on the registers, in that area, as compared with 16,630 at 21st December, 1931.

Major Stourton

Do not these figures indicate the obvious advantage of National Government?
