HC Deb 08 March 1937 vol 321 cc803-4
71. Sir Percy Hurd

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that one of the chief obstacles in the way of the fuller use of electricity in rural areas is the high connection charges for farms and dwellings which are not immediately adjacent to villages; and whether, in his plans for reorganising electricity supplies, he will seek to meet this difficulty?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

Yes, Sir. The matter is dealt with in the McGowan Report which His Majesty's Government have in principle accepted.
