2. Mr. Westwood

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the membership of the justices of the peace advisory committee of the county of Stirling; when they last met; and when there was issued the last list of newly-created justices of the peace for the county?

Mr. Elliot

At present, the advisory committee consists of the Lord-Lieutenant, Sir George Murray Home Stirling, Baronet (Chairman), Sir Norman A. Orr-Ewing, Baronet, Captain Howard J. Kennard, David Weir, Esquire, and Bailie John Jarvie. There are two vacancies, which have occurred since the last meeting of the Committee on 17th April, 1936. The last list of newly created justices was issued on 29th June, 1936.

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when these two vacancies are likely to be filled?

I am afraid I cannot say. I understand that these appointments are made by the Lord Chancellor.
