HC Deb 02 March 1937 vol 321 c147
1. Mr. Westwood

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether any public assistance is being paid to persons in full-time employment in the counties of Ross and Cromarty, Argyll and Inverness; and, if so, can he give the numbers of the counties, respectively, and the total sums being paid weekly?

The Secretary of State for Scotland (Mr. Elliot)

From inquiries which I have made I find that in the counties referred to one person in full-time employment is being paid public assistance. The county is Inverness and the amount of relief being paid is 10s. per week. I am obtaining full particulars of this case, the circumstances of which are very exceptional, and will communicate them to the hon. Member.
