HC Deb 25 February 1937 vol 320 c2181
53. Mr. Leckie

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that many local authorities deplore the fact that the provisions of Section 11 and the First Schedule of the Widows', Orphans', and Old Age Contributory Pensions Act, 1929, disqualifying a person from receiving a pension during any period such person is an inmate of any Poor Law institution, have been re-enacted without amendment by Section 23 and the Third Schedule of the Widows', Orphans', and Old Age Contributory Pensions Act, 1936; and whether the Government propose to introduce amending legislation?

Sir K. Wood

As my hon. Friend is no doubt aware, the Act to which he refers was a consolidating Measure, and as such could not embody any amendments of the law. I cannot give an undertaking that the Government will introduce the legislation suggested.
