HC Deb 16 November 1936 vol 317 c1331
58. Mr. ELLIS SMITH

asked the Home Secretary whether it is proposed to take steps to include silicosis and asbestosis in the industrial disease provisions of the Workmen's Compensation Acts?

Mr. LLOYD

No, Sir. Special provisions were enacted by Parliament to enable compensation to be given for these diseases because the ordinary industrial disease provisions were not considered appropriate; and my right hon. Friend knows of no reason for departing from the present arrangements.

Mr. SMITH

Will the under-Secretary bring to the attention of the Home Office the need for dealing with this question in the new Factories Bill which it is proposed to introduce?
