HC Deb 16 November 1936 vol 317 cc1311-2
10. Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether his attention has been called to the action of the Supreme Court of the State of Danzig in confirming the suppression of the trade unions; and whether he will take steps to secure discussion of this action by the next meeting of the League of Nations Council?

Mr. EDEN

The answer to the first part of the question is no, Sir. The second part does not, therefore, appear to arise. As regards the general situation in Danzig, I made a full statement on 29th October last, of which I am sending the hon. Member a copy, and I have nothing at present to add to it.

Mr. DAVIES

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that it is fairly clear that the suggestion made in my question is accurate, and if so, would he see to it that the Treaty provisions with regard to the Free City of Danzig are properly implemented?

Mr. EDEN

If the matter is only fairly clear, the hon. Gentleman appreciates the difficulty of dealing with it.

Mr. DAVIES

If I send the right hon. Gentleman something more accurate, will he deal with it?

Mr. EDEN

I shall always be delighted to see anything which the hon. Member sends me.
