HC Deb 09 November 1936 vol 317 cc485-6
17. Captain PETER MACDONALD

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any reply has yet been received from the German Government to the British questionnaire; what is the period which has now elapsed since this questionnaire was received by the German Government; and whether he will consider the desirability of making it clear that unless a reply is received within the next few months it must be assumed that no reply is forthcoming?

Viscount CRANBORNE

The questionnaire to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers was communicated to the German Government on 7th May last, and my right Friend stated on 6th July last, in reply to a question by the hon. Member for Kingswinford (Mr. A. Henderson), that His Majesty's Government were not prepared to repeat their requests for a reply. The third part of the question does not, therefore, appear to arise.
