HC Deb 18 May 1936 vol 312 cc827-8
48. Commander LOCKER-LAMPSON

asked the Prime Minister what steps he intends to take to restore the prestige of the Government in relation to sanctions and armaments; and whether he will consider reforming and strengthening the Cabinet?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am not clear as to the meaning of the first part of my hon. and gallant Friend's question, but with regard to the second part that is a matter within the sole competence of the Prime Minister of the day.

Commander LOCKER-LAMPSON

If the right hon. Gentleman is not clear, will he receive a deputation?

Sir W. BRASS

Is it not a fact that it is the prestige of the League of Nations that has fallen and not that of the Government?

Mr. COCKS

Has not the prestige of the Government gone beyond redemption?
