asked the Secretary of State for War whether the plans of the War Office to fortify the port of Mombassa, in East Africa, have been approved; whether it is intended to use Mombassa as a naval base in case of war; whether guns and searchlights have yet been shipped to Mombassa; in what way it is intended to man the new fortress when it is completed; and whether the cost of these undertakings will be charged to Kenya Colony or will be borne by the Imperial Exchequer?
