HC Deb 03 March 1936 vol 309 c1197
79. Mr. JOHN

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can give any particulars regarding the £2,000,000 loan for productive and other works which was sanctioned last year by the Jamaica Legislature; and what proportion of the loan will go to small cultivators?

Mr. J. H. THOMAS

Copies of Jamaica Laws Nos. 22 and 23 of 1935 are being placed in the Library of the House. The schedules to these laws show the objects of the loan as passed by the Legislature. The details of the programme are receiving my consideration. So far as I am at present aware, no portion of the loan will be re-lent to small cultivators.
