HC Deb 03 March 1936 vol 309 cc1197-8
80. Mr. JOHN

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether any reduction in taxation is contemplated or has taken place in the Barbadoes; and whether, before such reduction takes place, he will advise the promotion of a policy of agricultural expansion based on the needs of the small producers?

Mr. J. H. THOMAS

Two taxes have been suspended or reduced. The Government have already taken a number of steps designed to improve the position of the small producers.
