HC Deb 14 July 1936 vol 314 c1873
51. Mr. DAY

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, with a view to assisting the employment of male servants, he will consider amending the existing legislation so as to waive the payment of male servant licences?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I would refer the hon. Member to the last part of my reply to a question by my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for the New Forest and Christchurch Division (Major Mills) on 31st March last.

Mr. DAY

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether there would be a great loss to the Exchequer if this proposal were adopted?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

Perhaps the hon. Member will look at the reply which I gave then.

Mr. H. G. WILLIAMS

Will my right hon. Friend give special consideration to the case of the chauffeurs of Rolls-Royce cars?
