HC Deb 14 July 1936 vol 314 cc1872-3
50. Mr. TURTON

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will consider the revision of, and additions to, the list of stocks eligible for investment by trustees under the Trustee Acts?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I see no sufficient reason for undertaking a revision at the present time.

Mr. TURTON

Is my right hon. Friend aware that it is three years since I last asked this question, and that great inconvenience and hardship have been caused to trustees by the Government's refusal?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I am not aware of that. It is obvious that special legislation would be necessary to make any change, and there is no Parliamentary time for that. In the meantime, there are some £7,000,000,000 of stocks available for trustees to invest in.
