HC Deb 02 July 1936 vol 314 c590
13. Mr. SHINWELL

asked the Minister of Labour what progress has been made with the proposed trading estate in the Durham area?

Mr. E. BROWN

I have nothing to add, at present, to the answers of which I am sending the hon. Member a copy, given to the hon. Member for Houghton-le-Spring (Mr. W. Joseph Stewart) on 23rd June, and to the hon. Member for Spennymoor (Mr. Batey) on 25th June.

Mr. SHINWELL

Does the right hon. Gentleman realise that the progress so far made is of very little consequence, and is it not time that he took steps to expedite the proceedings of the responsible body in this matter?

Mr. BROWN

The hon. Member may rest assured that on the responsible body there are some of those who are most keenly in favour of this idea, and that there will not be one moment's unavoidable delay.
