asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the complaints that the duration of the voyages of mail steamers plying between Great Britain and Australia is unduly long, he will take steps to have the service accelerated?

My attention has not been called to the complaints referred to.

Does it not depend on the companies whether the voyage is unduly long?

Mr. GARRO JONES

Is not the President of the Board of Trade aware that many of these P. and O. vessels are constantly steaming at speeds far below their normal cruising rates? The schedule could easily be speeded up if representations were made by him.
