HC Deb 27 April 1936 vol 311 cc548-9
37. Mr. LYONS

asked the Minister of Health whether any land now under cultivation in the city of Leicester as allotments has been reserved or indicated by the local authority for industrial or building purposes in any of their schemes for town planning or development; and, if so, what extent of land has been so reserved and how much will be reserved for allotment purposes under the proposed scheme?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of HEALTH (Mr. Shakespeare)

Leicester City Council have two planning schemes in preparation but neither scheme has yet been submitted for the approval of my right hon. Friend and he is consequently not in a position to give the information desired.

Mr. LYONS

Will the hon. Gentleman insist that the position of allotment holders must be safeguarded in any scheme that may be accepted by the local authorities?

Mr. SHAKESPEARE

Certainly; we will give consideration to that point.
