HC Deb 23 April 1936 vol 311 c302
48. Mr. H. G. WILLIAMS

asked the Lord President of the Council whether the Road Research Laboratory cooperates in any way with the producers of road-making materials?

Captain HUDSON

I have been asked to reply. Yes, Sir. The co-operation of industry is welcomed and encouraged. Work is in progress at the Laboratory and also at the Building Research Station, in co-operation with associations of producers, upon various problems; and there are standing arrangements for the periodical exchange of technical information and the results of tests. The fullest measure of co-operation obtains between the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research and the Ministry of Transport, which continues to be responsible for experimental work upon roads under normal traffic conditions, and further contact with the producers of road materials is thereby maintained.
