HC Deb 23 April 1936 vol 311 cc302-5
40. Mr. GEORGE HALL

asked the Secretary for Mines whether, in view of their study of safety in coal mines in various countries, the International Labour Office will be invited to submit evidence to the inquiry on safety in the mining industry as to the measures taken in other countries in this matter?

The SECRETARY for MINES (Captain Crookshank)

I am informed that the Royal Commission on Safety in Coal Mines is already in touch with the International Labour Office, and has been promised a memorandum of information in regard to foreign countries.

Mr. HALL

Will these representations be limited to a memorandum, or will evidence be given?

Captain CROOKSHANK

That is a matter for the Royal Commission. At the present moment they have promised a memorandum.
